And then, look at the August run of 1970 at the Fillmore West (Carousel Ballroom)...

http://www.archive.org/details/gd70-08-19.aud.cotsman.11797.sbeok.shnf

don't know if this compares with the Sept. Fillmore East run - I went to 2 nights of the Aug. FW run - the night above, I remember seeing David Crosby off to one side, plugged in (he's credited as playing in the details for this aud. archive)

but not visible to most p.o.v. and he took no bow or anything.

Then we have like 3 songs from the 17th, with one glowing review... though most of the 3rd song, FOTD, is missing...

Then there's the historic Aug. 18th show, which one reviewer says to overlook the sound quality...

http://www.archive.org/details/gd70-08-18.aud.yerys.1346.sbeok.shnf

- it's the 1st playing of several tunes...

and the June 1970 FW run is fairly well documented, except for a sb of the 1st night:
http://www.archive.org/details/gd70-06-04.sbd.miller.12135.sbeok.shnf

which has strong reviews in favor but has the last 3 songs, with some teasers in the jams.

That may be a show I went to... I remember the 2nd GD show I ever went to, was not crowded - as was the 1st one - the April '70 Saturday (or Friday) show with Miles Davis - it was well-packed.

Thursdays were good nights to beat the crowd in those 4 day runs, it even said so on the flip side of the handbills (pc's).

There was a guy from my high school taping it with his mono Craig (built-in condensor mike) cassette deck...

I'd need a '69 or '70 Lowell HS yearbook to maybe find his name... I've been looking for some time on eBay, (because I want to own one, not sit in the Lowell library and skim throu it for hours.)

It was either the June or August shows that Garcia played front and center, sitting down at the pedal steel guitar - for the New Riders set.

Probably June, but I'm not sure. Anyone?

Finally, speaking of April 1970 at the Carousel (FW), there's nothing from April 10th and just 2 songs on a sb from the 11th, with the 2 reviews disagreeing.

This post is mainly a quick reference guide intended for further research of the lost chords locked in our minds, or floating around out there somewhere, perhaps on an unmarked BG tape, on a schoolmate's aud. cassette or,

...in the akashic ripples emanating 'twixt scarce 1970 KQED telecasts of the Oct. 1970 Winterland simulcast and 1966 Jeopardy episodes with Art Fleming hosting......

Ha! I just made disks of the 6-7-70 show at F West for Rob since this is one of my favs with the great acoustic set with Nelson and Marmaduke sitting in, I think.

Anyway, that set of F West shows, early June, is indeed great, and might be what you recall...?

Thanks for all the details.
